Replace text in multiple files UBUNTU using sed

Dear All,

There was a situation that we have generated 80K text files  on multiple Ubuntu servers in which by mistake a wrong url has been printed in one of line in the file and to regenerate those 80K files suppose to take more than 4 hours per server .

As those files were generated on Ubuntu servers given a thought to try for using sed command .

by default ‘/’ is option is used in sed command but in our case the replace string was containing ‘/’ as it is a url so i was getting error

sed: -e expression #1, char xx:

so used below solution and command got successfully executed  in 3 mins each server 🙂

sed -i ‘s,abcd.com,xyz.com/lmn,g’ *.txt

-i for replace in place  and last parameter is input file name

Thanks

[Solved] Database status In Recovery

We have configured Mirroring on SQL server 2008 R2 as HA on different site and today I saw on Principle DB server that all Databases are in disconnected mode so tried lot and then finally stopped and restarted SQL server Service.

Then opened SQL Management studio and surprised to see databases status was (In Recovery), waited for some and tried by refresh but no change in database status. Even databases was not accessible

So executed command

ALTER
ENDPOINT Mirroring STATE
=
STARTED

Clicked on refresh button and seen all databases status changed to (Principal, Synchronized) J

Thanks

unable to set chkdsk ran once flag

Dear All,

One of our laptop with OS windows 7 started continues rebooting , issue was laptop was getting rebooted because chkdsk was failing and error was below

It was for C: drive on which OS was residing .

Capture

so rebooted laptop in safe mode and checked event log is it related to physical disk issue but event viewer was not having any disk related issue entry in it.

i was knowing it s a dirty disk issue but as it was OS partition chkdsk /r /f command ws not getting executed ” needs reboot ”

So used below trek.

STEP 1

opened regedit  in safemode

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager

In the right pane, Changed value of BootExecute from autocheck autochk * /. to autocheck autochk *

STEP 2

Started Laptop by placing Windows OS CD and from boot menu elected to boot from CD , then pressed Shift+F10 key  once you receive Instal l screen and oi got command prompt opened .

Step 3

executed fsutil command to check disk

fsutil query c: < drive letter of laptop OS partition >

Volume F not dirty

STEP 4

now jump on differnt drive letter ( i.e. out of OS partition drive )  and execute chkdsk /r /f C: < drive letter of laptop OS partition >

it got 5 steps checking

images

step 5

removed CD and rebooted laptop from laptop disk.

LDF file not getting shrink even after Tlog backup SQL server

Dear All,

Today I seen for one of databases while trying to shrink Log file ( LDF ) for SQL Server even after taking Transaction log (tlog) backup, after lots of struggle I got solution by using below query.

select log_reuse_wait_desc from sys.databases where name ‘DBNAME’

the output of above query was ‘REPLICATION’
, actually in my case long back I have removed replication but still some objects where having replication entries so the shrink was not working so executed below command

Use DBNAME

sp_removedbreplication

That’s all , Error wend away and all started working

Thank You,

Prashant Deshpande
